10 years in the United States
Only 18 years of age and already a gig in New York: David Dimitri’s dream had become reality over night. After 4 years of training in Budapest he was booked at the Festival du Cirque de Demain in Paris right on the spot. The Big Apple Circus was the next step in his career. At the time only a small circus in its infancy, today the New York BAC counts to the world’s best circuses. The young Swiss, who initially only wanted to stay for a year, ended up staying more than ten.
David Dimitri complemented his commitment to the circus with his studies of Contemporary Dance, at the well-known Juilliard-School in Manhattan. The Juillard-School lured with a scholarship and the circus with a life in a caravan, long journeys throughout the USA, and balancing on the high wire.
